Forsyth County officials are looking for citizen input on developing what they call an “integrated trail system” in the northern portion of the county.

Officials said the plan would encompass commission districts 1, 4 and 5 and will include sidewalks, bike paths and multi-use trails. It’s designed to help boost community health through use of bikes to travel as well as through increased walkability.

District 4 commissioner Cindy Jones Mills said the proposal ties in with increased connectivity and town centers spotlighted in the recently-adopted Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan, and also dovetails with a recent parks survey that showed 75 percent of respondents rated walking and nature trails as most important of any outdoor activity.

Residents can take a survey on the proposal through March 9 at Forsythco.com
