A chain sub sandwich shop in DeKalb County failed its most recent health inspection with a score of 61.

The Firehouse Subs on Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker received about a dozen violations during its Wednesday inspection, according to a report from the DeKalb County Board of Health.

The sub shop was docked for not having clean food contact surfaces, not keeping vegetables and tuna salad at proper temperatures and not covering some food, the report stated.

One employee was seen cleaning counter tops and sweeping floors before handling a food container without washing their hands, the inspector wrote.

In a statement to Channel 2 Action News, the company said it is looking into the violations and will handle it directly with the restaurant crew.

“The quality and preparation of our food is incredibly important, and we strictly adhere to the FDA’s food code,” Firehouse Subs said.

During its previous health inspections in 2017 and 2018, the location passed with scores of 93 and 83, respectively.

It will get a chance to improve on its failing score in a follow-up inspection.
