Nearly two dozen people were displaced after a fire Monday night at a Clayton County apartment complex.

The fire at the Laurel Park Apartments, located in the 5700 block of Ga. 85 outside Riverdale, left families in 10 units without a place to stay, according to the American Red Cross.

Red Cross caseworkers are helping 20 people Tuesday with emergency assistance such as lodging, clothing and personal care items. The organization expects to continue working with the families in the weeks ahead to help them get back on their feet.

Clayton County fire officials have not yet released information about the blaze.

The fire at Laurel Park was the second apartment fire in metro Atlanta on Monday where the Red Cross helped residents.

Firefighting efforts at the Ashford 6860 apartment homes on Bebout Drive in Norcross were temporarily hampered by a water main break, Channel 2 Action News reported. Gwinnett County fire crews had to tap into the water source at the apartment complex next door.
