DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston is hosting an event tonight (Jan. 23) to discuss sex trafficking.

A reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with the program to follow at 6:30 p.m. The discussion — titled “Towards the Light: A 20/20 View of Domestic Sex Trafficking” — will be held at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts and Community Center, 3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur.

A news release from Boston’s office said the program will feature a keynote address, survivor accounts and panelists from organizations including the DeKalb County Police Department, the DeKalb County School District, the Department of Juvenile Justice and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy.

“In 2018, Georgia had the seventh highest number of human trafficking cases in the nation, according to statistics from the National Human Trafficking Hotline,” the news release said. “DA Boston is hoping this event raises awareness and inspires action to eradicate this growing epidemic.”

RSVPs are still being accepted for the event. They can be made online here, by emailing grpritchett@dekalbcountyga.gov, or by calling 404-371-6341.
