A Decatur man who served in the Army Air Force in World War II was recently honored by the French government for his wartime service.
Thomas Parsons was among 15 American veterans to receive the National Order of the Legion of Honor, the highest French military honor. A local ceremony was held at the American Legion Post 160 in Smyrna, featuring French general consul Pascal Le Deunff.
