Two people stole a Gwinnett County woman’s identity and have used it to spend $5,000 online, in metro Atlanta and across the South, police said.

The woman reported the identity theft to police on Jan. 26, after multiple stores contacted her about her identity being used for purchases, police said. She then learned that the fraudsters had also opened accounts in her name and used multiple existing accounts without authorization.
