Cops: East Cobb robber entered through open door

An east Cobb County mother that had just returned home with her child were confronted by a man demanding cash, police said Wednesday night.

The woman, whose name was not released, was in the kitchen of her Lawrence Mill Run home with her child when the man walked in through an open garage door Monday afternoon, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb County police. The woman told police she had just parked her car in the garage, Pierce said.

The man pointed a gun at the woman and her child and demanded cash, police said. When she didn't have money to give him, the suspect took the jewelry she was wearing and left the same way he came in, police said.

Neither the woman nor her child were injured.

The suspect is described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He is believed to be 20 to 25 years old and was last seen wearing a dark blue New York Yankees baseball hat, a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark blue jeans, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Cobb County police at 770-499-3945.
