A Mableton man died over the weekend after he was hit by a vehicle in Cobb County.

Cobb police were dispatched to the crash reported at 8:17 p.m. Friday on Mableton Parkway near Nash Circle in Mableton.

According to the department’s preliminary report, a white 2008 Cadillac SRX was traveling south on Mableton Parkway while a pedestrian was trying to cross the road.

The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old man, swerved to the right to avoid striking the pedestrian, Cobb police say. However, the Cadillac’s left side mirror hit the pedestrian, who police identified as 63-year-old Bernardino Castillo-Mendez of Mableton.
