A woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was hit by a garbage truck Wednesday morning in Cobb County.

The collision happened at 6:53 a.m. at the entrance of the Sedona Falls apartment complex at 1717 Waterfall Village Drive in Marietta, Cobb County police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk along Terrell Mill Road while a blue 2016 Mack MRU600 garbage truck owned by American Disposal Services was traveling eastbound on the same roadway.

According to Cobb police, the pedestrian was crossing the complex entrance in the crosswalk when she was hit by the garbage truck, which was making a left turn into the apartment community.

The pedestrian, Diana A. Ramone, 35, of Marietta, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment. The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old man from Lithia Springs, was not injured in the collision.

Cobb police say the collision is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to call the department at 770-499-3987.
