The Cobb County District Attorney’s Office has received a grant from the federal government to promote community awareness of crime victims’ rights.
The $5,000 comes from the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators through a grant awarded by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office for Victims of Crime.
The DA’s Office will use the funding to promote initiatives to mark the 2020 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DA's office will upload a series of videos on its Facebook page April 19-25. The first video is expected to be released Monday to mark the week. Residents can view videos that provide information about Cobb County resources for victims, self-defense tactics and ways you can support victims of crime.
Kimberly McCoy, director of the DA Office’s Victim Witness Unit, said the support from the Office of Victims of Crime and the association helps prosecutors help crime victims.
“Members of our community are encouraged to help promote justice through service to crime victims by joining our 2020 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week activities and supporting victim assistance programs on a daily basis,” she said.
