Cobb EMC employees gave more than teddy bears and chalky candy hearts on Valentine’s Day this year.

They gave the gift of comfort to children undergoing chemotherapy and other life-changing treatments inside Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

The employees put together 30 red wagons with IV poles attached so the kids can ride around in those as opposed to cold, metallic wheelchairs.

The staff also delivered 400 valentines to children.

“We’re proud to play a small part in helping bring them wagon rides and smiles...,” said Leslie Thompson, Cobb EMC spokeswoman.

The Cobb EMC employees installed a device, known as Chad's Brackets, onto the wagons to attach the IV poles. Those brackets were designed by a local man who was in CHOA visiting a young family member  in the hospital to have a brain tumor removed. He and his son noticed folks struggling to carry around IV poles behind the wagons, and came up with the bracket as a solution.

The brackets can now be seen on wagons throughout the hospital.
