Cobb BOE appoints new principals, seeks to buy land next to school

Hundreds of Cobb County School District students will have new principals when they return to class for the 2020-21 school year.

Effective July 1, these administrators will become new principals at the following schools:

•Dr. Felicia Angelle to Keheley Elementary from the CCSD Office of Instruction and Innovative Practice, Teaching and Learning.

•Jessica Appleyard to Pitner Elementary from Mount Bethel Elementary.

•Dr. Ashley Hosey to Floyd Middle from Pitner Elementary.

•Tucker Smith to Mount Bethel Elementary from Keheley Elementary.

Effective July 13, these assistant principals will continue their careers at new schools:

•Shayna Clinkscales to Nickajack Elementary from Campbell Middle.

•Charlie Eaddy to Varner Elementary from Nickajack Elementary.

•Stacey Swader to Acworth Elementary from Campbell High.

•Dr. Darsha Brooks to Floyd Middle from Acworth Elementary.

•Eva Miano to Campbell Middle from Floyd Middle.

•Lender Brooks to Osborne High from Sprayberry High.

•Bryan Rathke to South Cobb High from Osborne High.

The reassignments were unanimously approved Thursday by the Cobb County School Board during its virtual meeting.

Board members also accepted the resignation of Lindley Middle School Principal Travis Joshua, which will be effective May 29. Robin Lattizori, the assistant superintendent of leadership, will also retire effective June 1.

The school board also announced it intends to buy property next to Smitha Middle School. The board is considering purchasing 3.7 acres at 1999 Powder Springs Road in Marietta for $259,000.

Details about what the property would be used for will be presented at the board's May 14 meeting, school district spokeswoman Nan Kiel said.
