Brookhaven City Hall will remain open despite the threat of severe weather, according to the city’s Facebook page early Tuesday.

Officials said 47 degrees and “a little bit of rain” isn’t enough for them to close.

“We continue to monitor the weather situations and may make changes as circumstances warrant,” according to the post. “But for now we are open for all of your municipal needs.”

Other municipalities in DeKalb County announced closings Monday after weather reports indicated metro Atlanta could see up to 1.5 inches of snow following an arctic cold front.

DeKalb schools, courts and health board also announced closures ahead of wintry weather.

So far, there have only been reports of snow in Fannin and Gilmer counties. Much of the metro area is blanketed in rain, which could bring icy road conditions as temperatures drop Tuesday evening, Channel 2 Action News reported.

In the meantime, DeKalb County has opened three warming centers in anticipation of harsh weather conditions.

The following centers will be opened from 7 a.m. Tuesday to noon Friday:

  • Fire Station 3 on 100 N. Clarendon Ave. in Avondale
  • Fire Station 6 on 2342 Flat Shoals Road in Atlanta
  • Fire Station 15 on 2107 Flightway Drive in Chamblee
