Cobb County fire crews were battling a fire that killed a person on Old Concourse Road Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The fire broke out just before 2:20 p.m. at a one-story house, Cobb fire spokesman Lt. Dan Dupree said.

One person was found dead.

Firefighters were searching for other people while fighting what Dupree described as a heavily involved, defensive fire.

A witness told Channel 2 Action News the flames and smoke could be seen from 2 miles away.

No further information was immediately available.
