Richards Middle School assistant principal Ben Bachman’s three children and their mother were returning from a trip to visit family in Michigan when their Dodge Caravan hit a stopped tractor-trailer about 5:42 p.m. Sunday in Campbell County, Tenn.

Two of the children, 15-year-old Lauren Bachman and 13-year-old Daniel Bachman, were killed in the crash, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. Their mother, 42-year-old Rebecca Marie Bachman, died as well.

Bachman's 10-year-old son Jake was injured in the crash and is recovering in a Tennessee hospital, according to a GoFundMe site set up for the family.

People have donated more than $10,000 to the Hoschton family since the page was created. The initial goal is $25,000.

On the school’s Facebook page, officials asked the community to “please keep Mr. Bachman and his family in your thoughts and send your love his way. We are heartbroken for his loss.”
