The Austell City Council hired a company on Feb. 4 to make the city compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Portions of the city already are ADA compliant such as with curb cuts for sidewalks.

However, this measure will apply to “the whole city,” said the city’s Finance Director Denise Soesbee to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Up to $11,000 will be paid by the city to Keck and Wood of Duluth for work that should take seven weeks to complete.

In July 1990, this act was signed into law by the late President George H. W. Bush.
