A Carrollton attorney died Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in a crash with a Carrollton City Schools bus.

Thomas Greer, 70, a partner at the Greer Tisinger law firm, was hit Friday morning when authorities said a bus turned left in front of his vehicle on Ga. 166. The bus hit the right side of Greer's vehicle about 7:40 a.m., causing both vehicles to spin out, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

While charges have not been determined, investigators with the agency said the driver of the school bus, 49-year-old Tonya Morris of Franklin, failed to yield and contributed to the crash.

Morris was wearing a seat belt and was not seriously injured. Greer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Tanner Medical Center and later transferred to an Atlanta hospital, where he died, according to his family.

He had practiced law in the Carrollton area since 1975 and specialized in personal injury and mediation. According to his online obituary, he served more than 10 years as a juvenile court judge in Carroll County and was a Methodist lay minister at Victory United Methodist Church in Carrollton for 20 years.

Greer is survived by his wife, Pam, two sons and three granddaughters.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Victory United Methodist Church, THS Emergency Shelter or Alice’s Children’s home, all ministries important to Greer.
