Halloween in metro Atlanta calls for a slight warm-up, forecasters say, but trick-or-treaters should still bundle up after sundown.

Blustery winds driven Monday and Tuesday by superstorm Sandy should slow down Wednesday, and temperatures could break 60 degrees, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said.

“Continuing the climb to the lower 60s for the highs today,” Minton said. But temperatures should begin dropping into the upper 40s and low 50s Wednesday evening as the young goblins go out to gather their goodies. Temperatures will eventually drop into the upper 30s in metro Atlanta.

Farther north, the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for 21 counties, including Bartow and Floyd just outside metro Atlanta.

Meanwhile, flights from Atlanta to many destinations along the eastern seaboard have r30sesumed, airport officials said. Delta, Southwest and AirTran have flights scheduled Wednesday to Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Boston.

Delta will resume flights to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City late Wednesday afternoon, and limited service is scheduled to Newark Liberty and LaGuardia, airline officials said.

Still, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials said there were 58 departures cancelled for Wednesday after 90 flights were cancelled on Tuesday.

Clear skies and sun can be expected for the morning drive, and the mercury will top 50 degrees by 11 a.m., forecasters predict.

Thursday morning temperatures will start in the high 30s, with the warming trend continuing into the weekend, Minton said.

Look for highs reaching the low 70s by Sunday.
