An eighth-grade boy who brought a pellet gun aboard a school bus and shot three students with plastic bullets has been suspended and charged with aggravated assault, according to the Atlanta school district.

The shooting aboard the bus on its way to Sutton Middle School in north Atlanta on March 19 injured an eighth-grade girl, who was hit below her eye, said spokesman Stephen Alford. Two sixth-graders also were shot.

The school district is reviewing safety and security measures, and parents have suggested bag checks or metal detectors before children enter school buses, Alford said.
