2011-12 calendar set for Fulton schools

The Fulton County Board of Education on a 4-3 vote Thursday night narrowly approved a calendar for the 2011-12 school year. It puts the opening day of school at Aug. 15, a week earlier than was recommended. Classes would end for the year on May 18. Voting in favor of the calendar were members Gail Dean, Julia Bernath and Linda Schultz. Opponents were members Katie Reeves, Linda Bryant and Ashley Reeves, said Allison Toller, school system spokeswoman.
