Joseph M. A. Ledlie, a longtime Atlanta public relations executive, died on Christmas Day. He was 72.

Ledlie, who started the Ledlie Group in 1998, began his career as a journalist in Savannah, where he was city editor for the Savannah Morning News, and Atlanta, as an editor with The Atlanta Journal.

After serving as public relations chief for the Life Insurance Co. of Georgia, he joined the Atlanta office of Manning, Selvage & Lee.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Rochefort Ledlie; his children, Caroline Seton Ledlie, Jane Ledlie Batcheller and husband, Gardner Brooks Batcheller, Kathryn Ford Ledlie and Christopher Jeremy Ledlie; his siblings, Eugene Ford Ledlie, Leonard Gerard "Roddy" Ledlie, and Margaret Mary Ledlie; and a grandson, William Daly Batcheller.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 8 at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Peachtree Road in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Cathedral of Christ the King School, Spring Hill College, the Flannery O'Connor-Andalusia Foundation, Friends of Purification Church, Little Sisters of the Poor, or the Youth Villages-Inner Harbour Campus.
