A triple amputee from Douglasville recently got the chance to skydive alongside a famous actor for a great cause.

Cpl. Todd Love was one of two veterans who recently traveled to Perris, Calif., to skydive with actor Josh Duhamel as a part of GMC and Building for America's Bravest #EnlistMe campaign.

Love stepped on an improvised explosive device about five months after he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2010. He joined the Marine Corps in 2008 when he was 18 years old.

He said he had always wanted to skydive, but did not think much about it after he was injured.

“When I’m in the sky, flying with my friends, it’s not the disabled and the able-bodied, it’s just a bunch of us all falling through the air,” he said. “We’re all kind of equals. Gravity treats us the same.”

Army Staff Sgt. Stephen Valyou of Millerton, N.Y., was the other veteran who participated. He said skydiving allowed him to have an adrenaline rush even though he is paralyzed.

Love’s injury has certainly had a huge impact on his life, but he also has had some happy moments along the way.

He received a smart home in Douglasville in 2014. Then, in April, he married Amanda Sullivan Love. The couple, who met at physical therapy, are currently on their honeymoon.
