In the new city of Stonecrest's first elections this month, voters will decide on their first leaders who will set the course for the start-up government.

Many of the races focus on recruiting more businesses and reducing blight.

One of Stonecrest's founding fathers, Jason Lary, is running for mayor against former state House of Representatives candidate Charles Hill and political neophyte Douglas Favors.

Seventeen other candidates are seeking five City Council seats.

The election will be held March 21, and runoffs are scheduled for April 18 if necessary.
