A hearing on whether a man accused of aiding terrorists will be released to his family in Gwinnett County has been postponed.

Asif Ahmed Salim, 35, has asked a federal judge in Ohio to release him to the custody of his wife's family in Duluth while he awaits trial on three terrorism-related charges. A hearing originally was set for May 4 in U.S. District Court in Toledo. But due to a scheduling conflict, the judge today postponed the hearing and has not yet rescheduled it.

Salim and three others are accused of raising money for Anwar al-Awlaki, an al-Qaida leader killed in a drone strike in Yemen in 2011. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His family members in Duluth have pledged their home as collateral for his bond and have said they will monitor him closely if he's released.

Citing the nature of his alleged crime, the evidence against him and the possible danger to the community, the judge already has denied Salim's request for bond once. Federal prosecutors say Salim has produced no new evidence to merit his release.
