Seven students from Woodward Academy earned honors in the 2017 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, including five gold medals, the highest award given for individual art. Their works were selected from more than 330,000 art and writing submissions from around the country. The students will be honored in a ceremony for all national winners at Carnegie Hall on June 8. The winners: Dani Ben-Arie, silver, photography; Taryn Cline, silver, photography; Kerah Davis, gold, photography; Julia Dickson-Lah, gold, photography; Sanaa Malik, gold, jewelry; Gavin Orth, gold, photography; and Henry Stuart, gold, photography. The awards competition is presented by The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, which partners with more than 100 regional affiliates in what has grown to become the nation's longest-running recognition initiative and largest scholarship source for young artists and writers.
