University of Georgia officials said Monday they plan to hire 25 additional faculty members to teach fields of study that are seeing a dramatic growth in student interest.

The hiring effort, called “Investing in the Student Experience,” is designed to address the changing landscape of student interest in various courses.

UGA said it will focus on students pursuing degrees in areas such as computer science, management, information systems, finance, financial planning, engineering, statistics, biology, biochemistry/molecular biology and international affairs/political science.

The 25 faculty members will consist of 10 tenure-track professors, 10 lecturers and five academic advisors.
