Additional school resource officers were at Gwinnett County’s Mountain View High School on Thursday after a student posted a message on social media that was considered threatening by some students and parents.

The unidentified student was already in trouble with school officials for a disciplinary issue Wednesday, district officials said. The student posted a message on social media later that day that raised concerns among several students and parents, officials said. Some students and parents wrote messages on social media worried there was a problem at the school, posting a photo of someone writing inflammatory language that included a racial epithet about African-Americans.

There were no incidents at Mountain View High on Thursday and no incidents have been reported Friday, district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said. There are no additional school resource officers at the school Friday, she said.

The school posted a message about the situation on its website Thursday.

The student has received unspecified punishment for the message, said Roach.
