Applications for Atlanta Public Schools’ lottery to enroll in the pre-kindergarten program for the 2019-2020 school year open today, Jan. 3.

Spots in the Atlanta district's prekindergarten classes are filled randomly through an electronic lottery. Parents have until Feb. 8 at 11:59 p.m. to submit their lottery applications, and the drawing will take place Feb. 21.

To be eligible for the pre-kindergarten program, children must turn four years old by Sept. 1 and live in the Atlanta school district attendance area. For other requirements, see the APS website. 

The application takes about half an hour to complete and parents need to have a valid ID; proof of birth, residency, and, if applicable, legal guardianship; the child’s original Social Security card or a waiver; immunization certificates and other documentation.
