Pace Academy will officially open a new upper school, its high school, today. Construction of the 75,000-square-foot facility on the private school's Buckhead campus was funded by more than $35 million in donations, including a gift from Arthur Blank, the Home Depot co-founder and Atlanta Falcons owner.

The new upper school nearly doubles the space of the previous upper school and includes college counseling space, private tutoring rooms and science labs. The previous facility, which was constructed in 1961, was demolished in May 2013 to make way for the new building.

As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported last year, private schools across Atlanta are making campus improvements as the economy has improved. Read more on MyAJC.com.
