McClarin High School Receives Grant
McClarin High School will use a federal School Improvement Grant (SIG), adminstered by the Georgia Department of Education, to give students more course credit flexibility and to emphasize literacy and numeracy. The school will receive the $3.4 million grant over three years.
McClarin, an alternative school in College Park that provides its students with more scheduling flexibility, is the lowest performing high school in Fulton County, according to Superintendent Robert Avossa. The school will focus on student success, principal and teacher effectiveness and school environment.
The grant will be renewed for the second and third year if Georgia Department of Education officials witness improvement during on-site visits.
