Lockheed Elementary PTA wins honors from National PTA

The National PTA named the Lockheed Elementary School Parent Teacher Association a National PTA School of Excellence for building effective family-school partnerships. The national association also presented Lockheed's PTA six additional awards including the Oak Tree Award for 100 percent teacher and staff membership; Early Bird Award for recruiting 200 members by the last day in September of the new school year, and the 16 or More Award for achieving 16 more memberships then the previous year. Principal Dr. Devonne Harper said, "We worked very hard over the last several years to forge a strong partnership with parents at Lockheed. Our PTA, under the leadership of Lockheed parents Shenique Metellus and Byron Blackman, has done a phenomenal job of encouraging parents to be involved and building capacity for our PTA to grow even stronger."
