Students at Atlanta's Jackson High School partnered with students in Nuremberg, Germany, to study human rights issues this year in what school officials say will be an ongoing exchange program.

In the fall, students from Jackson’s “sister school” in Nuremberg visited Atlanta, attending school and touring the city. This summer, Jackson teachers Alex Elliott and John Murray led a group of students to Nuremberg. They partnered with local students to research and develop podcasts on human rights issues affecting refugees.

The exchange program builds on Jackson’s existing Chinese exchange program and International Baccalaureate program, Principal Stephanie Johnson said.

“We’re just really trying to spread international mindedness … and see what students are doing in other countries,” she said.
