A Gwinnett County middle school student fell sick Friday morning after a classmate gave her some edible marijuana, school district officials said.

The student, a seventh-grader at Radloff Middle School, was taken from school by her mother, said Gwinnett spokesman Bernard Watson. One student brought a sealed bag of prescription marijuana edibles that was in the form of either gummy or candy and shared it with a classmate, Watson said. The other classmate shared it with the girl who got sick.

Watson said school district officials are investigating the incident.
