Gwinnett County parents: You can start preparing your summer vacation plans.

School officials on Thursday evening set their calendars for the next two school years.

The first day of school for students for the 2016-17 school year will be Aug. 8 and the last day of classes will be May 24. The first day of classes for the 2017-18 school year will be Aug. 7 and the last day will be May 23.

Here are the start and end dates for the 2016-17 for some of the largest metro Atlanta school districts:

Atlanta starts Aug. 3 and ends May 24.

Cobb starts Aug. 1 and ends May 24.

Fulton starts Aug. 8 and ends May 25.

Rockdale school officials are asking residents for their thoughts about when to start the next school year. Some proposals include starting as soon as July 27.
