Gwinnett County homeowners will not see any changes to their school property tax rate, according to a proposal by school district administrators.

Officials have recommended that the rate stay at 21.85 mills. The school district has scheduled three hearings to hear from residents about the plan.

Here’s the schedule:

  • Thursday, July 21, 11:45 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 21, 6 p.m.
  • Monday, Aug. 1, 8 a.m.

The hearings will take place at the school district’s headquarters, 437 Old Peachtree Road NW in Suwanee.

School officials have noted that home values rose this year in Gwinnett by about 5 percent, so they expect to collect more in property taxes.

Gwinnett school board members approved a near $2 billion budget in May that included salary increases for teachers and nearly all employees, along with additional funds for maintenance improvements. The school board also tentatively adopted the property tax rate in May. A final vote by the board is scheduled following the Aug. 1 meeting.
