Gwinnett County school board members have appointed two assistant principals to lead two of its elementary schools.

Laurie Gardner, currently the assistant principal of Parsons Elementary School, will become the principal of Meadowcreek Elementary School. Gardner joined the Gwinnett school district in 1989. The current principal, Juanita Daunoy, is relocating with her family, officials said.

Michael Bender, currently the assistant principal of Hull Middle School, will become principal of Woodward Mill Elementary School. Bender joined the Gwinnett district in 1999. The current principal, Barbara Ergle, retires in December.

The board approved the appointments at its meeting Thursday.
