Gwinnett County school board members voted late Thursday to appoint seven educators as principals.

The hires were:

  • Bonita Banks will be principal of Centerville Elementary School. She's currently an assistant principal of Partee Elementary School.
  • Taffeta Connery will be principal of Sugar Hill Elementary School. She's currently an assistant principal at Corley Elementary School.
  • Jose DeJesus will be principal of Cedar Hill Elementary School. He's currently the principal of Chamblee Middle School in DeKalb County.
  • Guerlene Merisme will be principal of Lilburn Elementary School. She's currently an assistant principal at the school.
  • Dale Pugh will be principal of Walnut Grove Elementary School. He's currently an assistant principal at Fort Daniel Elementary School.
  • Ryan Queen will be principal of Trickum Middle School. He's currently an assistant principal of Parkview High School.
  • Nicole White will be principal of Kanoheda Elementary School. She's currently an assistant principal at Meadowcreek Elementary School.

The educators will take these jobs on July 1. The current principals of five of these schools are retiring, Gwinnett officials said.
