The University of Georgia will graduate a new class for the Bulldog Nation Friday.

The main commencement for undergraduates will be held at 7 p.m. in Sanford Stadium. The speaker will be Ernie Johnson, a 1978 graduate of UGA's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Johnson has a long career in broadcast sports, including hosting Turner’s NBA coverage and TNT’s “Inside the NBA” studio show, among other basketball coverage.

The gates of Sanford Stadium will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are not required. The ceremony is held rain or shine and will only be rescheduled in the event of rain accompanied by high wind, thunder, and lightning. If its raining during the ceremony, the graduates will not process onto the field, but will report directly to their assigned seats on the field. Each student will be provided a poncho to wear.

The alternate ceremony time is 10 a.m. Saturday. Any changes to the commencement ceremony will be announced by 10 a.m. the day of commencement, and the information will be placed on the UGA homepage by 10:30 am.

The first ceremony begins at 9 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. in McCamish Pavillion at 184 10th Street NW in Atlanta. Tickets are required to attend, and the doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

The second bachelor’s ceremony is 3 to 5:30 p.m. and features an address from U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Florida, a 1971 electrical engineering graduate of Georgia Tech. Tickets are required, and the will call window opens at 1 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
