Fulton teacher resigns over Facebook rant about student

Many experts advise teachers to be careful about what they post on Facebook related to their jobs or students. A Latin teacher at Johns Creek High School just learned why. An ill-advised and expletive-laced Facebook vent led to her resignation.

Irked that she had to stay after school on the Friday before the holiday break, the teacher posted a series of complaints about the student responsible for prolonging her day. The high school student has a disability that allows him extra time to complete tests, and he was finishing up several exams after school on that afternoon, according to WXIA/Channel 11, which reported the resignation.

Among the teacher’s Facebook comments: “Holy (expletive), he’s finally gone. I get to go home now. Only 5.5 hours after school let out.”

The comments made their way to horrified Fulton County School System officials who said the teacher has now resigned.
