DeKalb County School District officials say they are watching weather forecasts closely as Hurricane Michael closes in on the Florida Panhandle coast.

The storm is expected to make landfall this afternoon.

District officials have been in touch with the National Weather Service, which has declared Michael a "dangerous" storm that was expected to still be at hurricane strength when it enters Georgia.

The district posted a note on social media that notices will be posted should school be canceled or delayed.
