DeKalb schools close ahead of inclement weather; SAT postponed
Schools will close early today across DeKalb County and weekend activities have been canceled ahead of fears of coming inclement weather, school district officials said.
District spokesman Quinn Hudson said schools are on a staggered closing schedule Friday:
•Elementary schools close at 11 a.m.
•High schools close at 12:15 p.m.
•Middle Schools close at 1:15 p.m.
The school closings were in response to an emergency declaration by Gov. Nathan Deal for 21 counties across the state. A weather system is expected to dump up to 2 inches of snow on metro Atlanta and more than a foot in the northern part of the state.
SAT testing scheduled for the weekend also has been postponed. A make-up date for testing was not announced Friday.
