DeKalb County School District officials announced just before noon that classes would be cancelled Tuesday, with up to 2 inches of snow anticipated for most of metro Atlanta.

The decision was made after Gov. Brian Kemp announced that several governmental offices would close in preparation for the snow, including Fulton County.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all (DeKalb County School District) schools and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 29,” officials said. “This includes all school events and activities. No employees are to report.”

DeKalb students missed nearly two weeks during the 2017-2018 school year for weather-related matters, including Tropical Storm Irma in September 2017 and several snow storms in early 2018.
