The cost of a Roswell elementary school renovation project could increase by $175,000.

The Fulton County Board of Education last week approved increasing the budget for the renovation of River Eves Elementary School from $3.72 million to $3.89 million to cover "unexpected" design issues.

Fulton County Schools needed to increase the budget because of modifications made to the mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems, according to district documents.

The River Eves project includes replacing the roof, chillers, water pumps, boilers and sprinkler heads, among other upgrades. It also includes replacing lights in the gym, media center and classrooms.

Sinks, doors and flooring also will be replaced in certain areas of the school, and outside playfields will be re-graded.

The project is funded through a voter-approved, one-cent sales tax.
