Cobb County schools are offering educators and other staff members grant money to fund new and innovative teaching practices in the classroom.

The catch is, applicants have to compete for the funding, which ranges from $500 to $10,000, as part of the district's first ever "Cobb Tank" – the school system's version of the popular TV show "Shark Tank."

To participate, local school faculty and staff must apply individually or in teams by Friday. After the application period closes, a panel will review the applications and select finalists, according to the Cobb schools' website.

Finalists will be given approximately two weeks to prepare a 3-minute presentation, and will pitch the idea live to the “Cobb Tank” sharks.

After the live pitch, there will be a 5-to-10-minure Q&A session with the “sharks,” who will convene and select funding recipients. Winners will be announced the following week.
