Nearly a month after police began an investigation into physical or sexual abuse by some members of a Gwinnett County baseball team against some younger teammates, none of the possible victims have pressed charges, police said Thursday.

Gwinnett officials received an email tip last month that “contained an allegation of sexual assault” by some players on Parkview High School’s team during a trip to North Charleston, S.C., for a baseball tournament. Police there began an investigation, but none of the alleged victims’ parents have cooperated with the inquiry.

“Nobody has come forward to file a complaint or report to conduct an investigation,” North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

An initial report by Gwinnett schools police backed up allegations of "physical and sexual battery" by six upperclassmen on the team, according to documents obtained by the AJC. Gwinnett school district police do not have criminal jurisdiction in this case.

Gwinnett school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach said Thursday that it has turned over its case files to North Charleston authorities. She added that the district is in the final stages of its investigation and will take appropriate disciplinary action with the students involved.

Parkview was ranked as the nation’s best high school baseball team by several national websites.
