The 2019-2020 school year will start with changes to several Atlanta schools.

Atlanta Public Schools will open Harper-Archer Elementary School at 3399 Collier Drive NW. The elementary school is formed by the merger of Towns and Fain elementary schools.

The building had been a middle school and has been renovated into an elementary school.

Woodson Park Elementary School at 20 Evelyn Way NW will open under new management and under the name KIPP Woodson Park Academy. APS signed a contract with KIPP Metro Atlanta to operate and staff the school.

The district also will launch a redesigned alternative high school program. The new Phoenix Academy will include programs previously under Crim Open Campus High School, the online Atlanta Virtual Academy and West End Academy.

The program will offer ways for students who have fallen behind in high school to earn the credits needed to graduate.
