New details are available in the dirt bike accident that killed a teen in Lilburn last week.
Austin “AJ” Zwigart, 15, was visiting relatives in Lilburn from Valencia, Pa., when the accident happened, Lilburn police Capt. Thomas Bardugon said Tuesday.
AJ was riding with his cousin near Arcado Road when he “either intentionally or unintentionally tried to cross a small creek that ran perpendicular to his path of travel,” he said.
The creek was 10 feet across and the banks of the creek were about three feet high, Bardugon said.
Police said the bike hit the far bank and AJ flew head-first into the bank. The bike flipped over and past him.
His cousin was with him, riding seconds behind him and reported the accident, Bardugon said.
No charges will be filed.
