The parents of a 15-year-old Troup County boy struck and killed as he rode his bike said Wednesday they don’t blame the driver that hit their son. But it doesn’t make his loss any easier to accept.
“It’s a feeling I wouldn’t want my worst enemy to have, to have to bury your own child at 15,” Sheree Lovelace, the boy’s mother, told Channel 2 Action News.
Brandon James Truitt, 15, was struck by a truck Monday night in the 400 block of Wares Cross Road, according to the Georgia State Patrol. Brandon, a sophomore at LaGrange High School, was visiting a friend when the two rode their bikes to a convenience store. As the two returned to the friend’s house, Brandon was hit by a truck shortly before 7 p.m. He later died from his injuries.
Brandon was a pitcher on his high school baseball team and had a great deal of potential, his family and coaches said. His funeral will be held Monday, his family said.
No charges are expected against the driver, who remained at the scene, according to the GSP.
