The economic development arm for the city of Johns Creek has released an initial list and location map of local businesses owned and operated by Johns Creek residents.

Johns Creek Advantage officials said that patronizing local businesses has a multiplier effect on the economy, attracts talent who invent new products and implement solutions, and results in more charitable giving within a community. The agency also said that local businesses bring a community's economy far more revenue than national chains.

They said 70 percent of revenue generated by national retailers leaves the local community, while 75 percent of money spent at locally-owned businesses is recycled back into the neighborhood.

The initial map displays ten resident-owned businesses, ranging from restaurants to cleaners to boutiques and consignment shops.
