As millions of Americans wait for their income tax refunds, some anxiety is beginning to show.
An Indiana woman allegedly took it a step further, according to police. Claudia Pedroza, allegedly stabbed a man because he was angry her refund had not arrived yet, The Elkhart Truth reported.
Pedroza, 26, of Goshen, was arrested Monday and charged with domestic battery with a deadly weapon, the newspaper reported. If convicted, she faces up to six years in prison.
The victim told police Pedroza became angry at him because the tax refund she was expecting from her return had not arrived yet, the Truth reported. The man said Pedroza came to his home and demanded her refund, and an argument ensued, the newspaper reported.
According to police, Pedroza allegedly grabbed a knife from the man's kitchen and stabbed him in the upper left shoulder, the Truth reported. Pedroza allegedly told police she stabbed the man and needed the cash to make vehicle payments and pay other bills, the newspaper reported.
Pedroza was booked into the Elkhart County Correctional Facility. She is expected to appear in court Friday, the Truth reported.
